Matt brought a copy of the Flagstaff Unified School District’s revised budget to the community hearing. In the budget, he noted that the district’s additional assistance funding, which is money appropriated for capital items such as roof repairs, was cut almost 90% from the existing funding formula. Instead of receiving $4.5 million in district additional assistance, the district received $569,000. So when legislators such as Sylvia Allen ask how much money is enough to satisfy education advocates, Matt says they should start by simply funding the state formula.
